I like to watch movies and TV shows that make me think, that make me try to figure out the plot. I really enjoy the ones that have the plot twist at the end. Through the whole movie you think the character is the good guy only to find out in the end he was working both sides all along. imagesOr maybe he went undercover only to be trapped and convinced to work both sides.

I was this person for a long time. I think if we’re honest, we’ve all done it at some point to some extent. Sure it may not involve crime and we probably weren’t in law enforcement but the concept is still the same.

I’ve been thinking about this since yesterday. I was reading in John 15 and in verses 18 and 19 Jesus tells us something very important. “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”John-15-18-300x141

I know for me, I don’t like to be “hated”. I don’t like to be rejected or gossiped about. I used to dislike it to a point where I would try to play both sides; I would be a “double agent” so to speak.

I felt I was good enough to play both sides. I would go to church on Sunday and Wednesday but still indulge in my sins the rest of the week. To be honest, it was more like I would hide my sins for the hour or two I was at church. kettos_ugynokok83I had no real intention of changing the lifestyle I lived. I was a “double agent”. I would confess my sins to God and sometimes even to others but there wasn’t any repentance or turning away from them.

I think this is one of the biggest tools to the enemy. To trick us into thinking that we can do it. Sure we can trick people, we can play the game and con them into thinking we’re something we’re not, but we can’t trick or con God. God knows the intentions of our heart, He knows us better than we know ourselves.bd6196a57bc5d07650adb815116fb0dd

Jesus actually warns us of this very thing. He doesn’t call it a double agent; He calls it being lukewarm. Revelation 3:16 Jesus tells us “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”

No matter how hard we try, we can’t play both sides. We either serve God or serve the world. In life, just like it the movies, the double agent is the bad guy. In life the double agent is against God. We must choose. We must choose to give God everything or nothing. We must choose to follow Jesus 100% or not at all. When it comes to following Jesus there is no middle ground, compromise or negotiating.

I hope everyone has an amazingly blessed day. If you’ve been working both sides it’s not too late. We are here to help in any way we can.

In Christ alone
